Play Submissions

Please note: due to the overwhelming response we have gotten in the last year, it is taking longer than before to respond to script submissions. Current response time is around 18 months to two years. If you have submitted a play, we thank you for your patience.

As a small company the volume of submissions we have received is more than we can keep up with. No one is served by having their play get lost in a pile, so in order to concentrate fully on the plays already submitted, Halcyon Theatre is not currently accepting script submissions. Any plays received (or postmarked) after October 18th, 2009 will be returned unread.

We remain committed to new work and we are revising our submissions policies and procedures and will have more information and an updated submissions policy in the Winter of 2011.

Inevitably we will receive great scripts that we cannot produce. Sometimes we will receive a great script that doesn't fit with our mission or company. We will from time to time pass strong scripts that don't necessarily fit Halcyon along to other theatre companies we know. If you do not want us to forward your script please let us know.

Please Note: in order to save trees and keep response times as low as possible we coordinate our script reading electronically. To help facilitate multiple people reading a script at the same time, paper scripts we receive will be scanned and distributed electronically to our readers. By submitting your script to Halcyon Theatre, you are giving permission to our creating an electronic copy and storing it. If you would like to opt-out of having your submission scanned, please let us know when you submit it and we will respect your request.
