Tony Adams is a Chicago based theatre artist, husband and father, and artistic director of Halcyon Theatre. He's been fortunate to make my way as an actor, designer, director and writer (in alphabetical order) He also staged managed twice. He is a horrible stage manager.

May be Away for a Bit.

Tending to family/relaxing and helping Jenn and the kids recuperating.
I think it's easy to underestimate how stressful it was for Tony Jr. who spent half of his life watching his mom's belly balloon, then seeing her have contractions and be gone. When he went to the hospital later in the day on Sunday you could see a huge sense of relief on his face when he saw mom was alright.
Then he heard the baby and stared at her in amazement. This morning he spent about 15 minutes peering over her crib and waving at her. (He rarely spends more than 60 seconds in one spot.) Charley is sleeping on my arm as we type. She's a very quiet baby. Something Jr. never was.

It's crazy what a difference a couple of days can make. A week ago Jenn was in rehearsal and we had a show running. I stumbled upon an old picture last night, makes for a good before and after.

The first picture was about three years ago, in our old apartment. We were just about to find out about Tony Jr. being on his way.

This was yesterday as we welcomed Charley home.

I'll probably be posting lightly for a bit. But I was thinking how some folks I know who found out they were having kids and  in re-prioritizing their lives, they decided to stop doing theatre (or what ever their passion was). For Jenn and I it brought exactly what we wanted to do into focus.

Balance is hard, but so is everything.
